At Temple Ewell CEP School, we strive to build self-esteem through sport, physical education and physical activity in each of our pupils and give them the necessary skills to grow up to be successful contributors to society. We place huge emphasis on developing children’s resilience, confidence, and leadership skills as well as making them become effective team members.
We know that sport has a massive impact on children’s mental health so we encourage the children to have a wide range of sporting opportunities both curricular and extra-curricular.
As an inclusion flagship school we are passionate about ensuring all children participate in both inter and intra school competitions. All children are given opportunities within a structured learning environment that constantly challenges pupils whilst receiving support and encouragement. The physical education lessons are a platform for children to develop their core physical competency as well as placing huge emphasis on cognitive and social skills development. The physical education lessons also include the class topic for each term, encouraging cross-curricular learning.
Our gifted and talent students have many opportunities to develop their skills through different competitions, festivals, trials and specialised coaching. We nurture and support these children emotionally to help them cope with stress and pressure from their chosen sport or discipline. We provide them with leadership roles within the school to teach patience, communication and empathy. They are encouraged to inspire the other children and are celebrated regularly in our assemblies.
Our school Christian vision ‘FAITH’ is very important to our sporting philosophy. Forgiveness, acceptance, inspiration, trust and hope are instilled into our children through our sport and physical education programme. Our Christian values help us be successful both on and off the sports field.
We teach our children to be competitive and compete with their full potential. This has led to many victories both locally and at county level. We have even competed nationally. We are extremely proud of our achievements.
