Pupil Voice
At Temple Ewell Church of England Primary School we value the opinions and ideas of all our pupils and encourage them to share these through various councils and forums.
The School Council
Each class elects 2 members for the School Council each year. The council meets regularly to discuss ways to improve and develop the school, organise charity and fun activities for all the children and share any ideas from children in their class.
Over recent years, the Council have organised a wide variety of charity events to raise money for local, National and International charities. They have written to the Parish Council about enhancing the outside space, including planting trees and creating a pathway along the edge of the field.
The Council members take their role very seriously and constantly strive to find new ideas and ways to enhance our school.
“In the School Council we help improve the school – we make big and little changes to make everyone happier and to make sure our school is great!” (Molly Year 5)
“As School Counsellors we help the little ones become more confident when they are working and playing, we help make our school grow.” (Tyler Year 6)
The Spiritual Team
Our Spiritual Team acts as our school’s spiritual agents, helping to guide and develop the spiritual well-being of our community. They work to ensure that our school is a place where children and adults are open and curious about the world they live in, and are able to appreciate and experience the sacred quality of life experiences.
The Spiritual Team aims to look at ways to help children and adults to learn how to think about life and its many mysteries, to wonder about the world they live in and to develop deep and personal meanings about their experiences of life with the aim to help everyone in our school family to flourish.
As part of this work, our Spiritual Team meets regularly to discuss and review our school vision, values, curriculum and the ethos of our Church School. They consider how all aspects of school life contribute to all within our school community flourishing. They look at ways to enable all within our family to have a voice and how to ensure all feel valued and respected.
They also consider RE and Collective Worship. As part of this work, they plan and lead Collective Worship and organise School Church Services throughout the year. They also support children throughout our school community to lead collective worship and reflection.
The Sports and Wellbeing Council
At Temple Ewell Church of England Primary School we have a full time Sports and Wellbeing Coach training children regularly to participate in over 20 sports throughout Key Stage 1 and 2. We have been extremely successful in winning district and county final events. We also have a 100% inclusion rate in Key Stage 2 sports events.
Our Sports and Wellbeing Council have active involvement in planning some of the events and sporting opportunities in the academic year. In previous years, the Sport and Wellbeing Council have organised interhouse competitions which were extremely successful. They also organised a Race for Life Event which raised over £1,600. The Sports and Wellbeing Council plays an important role in the development of physical education at our school. They are also role models within the school. They have the responsibility to ensure they encourage, motivate and inspire their peers.
We believe sport, fitness and an active and healthy lifestyle are crucial to life-long learning and success.
“My role as a Sports and Wellbeing Councillor is to organise and support with PE throughout the school.” (Molly)
“My role is to encourage and inspire others with PE lessons and in sport teams. We also organise sport events like sports day and a inter school cross country. “ (Maggie)
“We are responsible for helping Mr L and Mr Robbins with anything related to PE. We have run PE lessons for younger students. We have also designed and carried out questionnaires to get the opinions of everyone so we can improve PE even more.” (Oscar M)
“I am the Sports and Wellbeing Captain. I support the school but also help the other Sport Councillors. I help run meetings and help organise the action points. I am also here to listen to anyone who needs help.” (Monroe)
