Tiddlers
Hi, I am Debbie, and I have recently taken over the week to week running of Tiddlers. I am an ex primary teacher and now work as a childminder. If you have any questions about Tiddlers please get in touch via my email: djbrowne1976@yahoo.co.uk or just pop in to see us!
Tiddlers is a Temple Ewell parent / baby & toddler group that has been running since June 2009. It is run by local volunteers, many of whom have children that attend Temple Ewell Primary School. We meet every Tuesday during term time in the small hall at Temple Ewell primary school from 9am-10.30am. Entrance is through the church yard, behind the church. There is no need to book, just turn up and play.
What do we do?
9-10am free play.
On arrival we will ask you to sign in for the session, and to fill out a brief registration form if you haven’t joined us before, park your buggy up (if you have one) and get settled in to playing!
Tiddlers has a baby and toddler area, book corner and tables with play doh, puzzles art and craft or small world toys (farm animals, dinosaurs etc). We also have a huge wooden train set with trains, and lots of cars for racing about. In our garden area we have a chalk board for mark making, ride on toys, as well as a small play house if your child fancies making us a cuppa! There is often water or messy play available outside (weather permitting) so don’t forget spare clothes!
During the morning some of our lovely volunteers will make you a cup of tea or coffee (please keep these out of reach of children at all times) while you and your child play and socialise with other families. We really are a friendly bunch (we must be, I’ve been coming with various children for over 7 years now!)
10-10:15 Snack Time & Tidy up.
The children have a choice of lovely snacks and drinks. Please make volunteers aware if your child has any allergies. As your child finishes their snack we would encourage you and them to help to put resources back where they belong. Helping children to learn how to look after their environment.
10:15-10:30 Story and Song time
Once the hall is tidy we all gather together on the mats for a story and a song time. Song time is child led, we sing favourite songs, often using instruments or song props, perhaps playing with our colourful parachute, helping to foster a love of singing, music and movement from an early age. During this time we will sing happy birthday to any children who have had their birthday this week, as well as giving them a present.
Special events
Due to covid we have been very limited over the last 18 months. We re-started as an outdoor group in May this year, meeting at Kearsney Abbey, Temple Ewell park and Russel gardens. Now we have a roof back over our heads we look forward to planning summer days out once more. In the past we have always had an annual summer trip, these have included visits to soft play areas, wildlife parks, Solley’s farm and days out at the beach.
We look forward to seeing you soon, come and join us for a cuppa and a chat!
